BS (Hons.) Optometry & Orthoptics

The BS Optometry & Orthoptics program focuses on diagncEing and managing disorders of eye movement and binocular vision. Orthoptists work closely with ophthalmologists to treat strabismus (squint), amblyopia (lazy eye), double vision,
and coordination problems
At KIAS, students receive an in—depth education in visual neurophysiology, ocuar motility, and binocular vision science.
Clinical training at Khalida Memorial ensures graduates are ready to provide care for patients of all ages especially children 

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Diagnose eye movement disorders and bincx:ular vision anomalies.
  • Conduct orthoptic assessments using specialized instruments.
  • Plan and carry out non-surgical treatments such as vision therapy.
  • Work alongside ophthalmologists in managing surgical
  • Counsel patients and families on eye health and treatment plans

Facilities & Practical Training:

  • Orthoptic lab with prism bars, & synoptophores.
  • Hands-on training in pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology clinics
  • Exposure to surgical casæ for pre- and post operative orthoptic care.

Internship & Research

Students complete a wæk
internship at Khalida Memorial Hospital's Optometry Department
or companies, allowing them
to apply their skills to real world challenges.
